ELLSWORTH — The Ellsworth Public Library invites the community to experience “The Symphony of Wild Places,” a stunning photography exhibit by River Falls nature photographer Amy DeLong. The exhibit opens Wednesday, Aug. 5, and will be on display through Oct. 29 in the library's gallery space.
Through breathtaking images of birds, wildlife and natural landscapes, The Symphony of Wild Places celebrates the quiet beauty and wonder found in the natural world. DeLong's work encourages viewers to slow down, observe and reconnect with the beauty that surrounds them every day.
A former member of the clergy, DeLong discovered a new calling behind the camera after 24 years in ministry.
"After 24 years of ministry, I traded in pulpit and pews for wild places—where my congregation is now towering pines and chickadees.
“My photography is the evolution of my previous life's work—a lens for seeking the sacred, finding awe in the smallest details, and cultivating wonder.
“Based in River Falls, Wisconsin, I hope my images capture the quiet, grounding beauty of the natural world. My work is an invitation to pause, breathe, and celebrate the divine artistry that surrounds us. It is testimony to the belief that nature can be our best teacher, healer, and sanctuary."
The exhibit showcases DeLong's remarkable ability to capture fleeting moments in nature—from the vibrant colors of songbirds to the peaceful stillness of woodland landscapes. Her photographs reflect both technical artistry and a deep appreciation for the healing power of the outdoors.
Community members are invited to visit the library during regular business hours to enjoy this inspiring collection. Admission is free, and all are welcome.
