River Falls took seventh of 10 teams at the D2 State meet in Wisconsin Rapids over the weekend, capping off another memorable season.

As a team, the Wildcats scored 133.983 with a 34.633 on vault, a 31.617 on bars, 31.783 on beam and 35.950 on floor. While the team and individual events are on separate days, River Falls got many key individual performances during the team competition.

Tirfe L’Allier and Ruby Amundson placed fifth and seventh on vault, with Amundson also landing in fifth for floor.

The individual events brought even stronger performances out, with Amundson placing sixth in all-around with a 36.233. This score came with a third-place finish on bars, eighth on beam, ninth on floor and 12th on vault.

L’Allier took 11th on vault with a 9.067 and 27th on floor with a 8.667. River Falls’ final individual competitor, Bella Franklin, finished 17th on floor with a 9.050 and 18th on beam with an 8.500.

The Big Rivers Conference swept the State meets, with Chippewa Falls winning in D1 and Rice Lake winning in D2.

State marked the end of the season for River Falls where it had just seven gymnasts, but they all played their roles to perfection to get the team as far as it got. Laney Cegielski was the team’s lone senior and made it her duty to lead the team as captain.

“She’s done a really nice job getting that team to kind of mold and merge together and become one group of kids,” Head Coach Bridgette Lensing said during the regular season. “With a group of seven, it’s kind of difficult to have those small numbers. Anything you can do to keep that group together, keep them cohesive, keep them merging, meshing, it’s really beneficial for our team.”
