Ellsworth, Spring Valley and Elmwood/Plum City each competed at the Wisconsin Trap Shooting State Tournament, coming away with a JV individual title, plenty of 90-plus scores and great individual finishes June 7-8.
Ellsworth’s varsity team took 15th in the 2A division (the top division) with a score of 472/500. Chase Kressin scored a 97; Landon Anderson, Drake Fedie and Jens Christensen scored 94; Carter Moldenhauer, Trevor Doherty, Jayvid Meier and Clint Hoyer a 93; Morgan Halverson a 92, Cooper Moldenhauer a 91 and Braydon Anderson, Levi Jackson and Timmy Quade a 90.
Halverson finished 12th in the varsity girls category in her first year on the team. Other notable finishes were Kressin in 15th on the boys’ side, EmmaJo Meier winning the JV girls title with an 88 and Cooper Moldenhauer taking ninth for the JV boys.
The Spring Valley Orange Crush also had a nice day at the State meet in the 2A division, with five shooters scoring 92 or above.
Tyler Traynor led the team with a 94 score, but was competing in the JV category so ended up tying for second there. Rylie Fritz scored a 92 to tie for 12th for the girls and Adelyn Kotten followed right behind with an 89 to tie for 21st.
The boys got 92 scores from Jaxon Schultz and Travin Kuhn, and an 89 from Trenten Vorlicek.
Elmwood/Plum City competed in the 1A division, scoring some solid individual performances.
Caleb and David Kopp each registered 25 straights, doing so on the same squad in the same round. David ended up with a 90 and Caleb an 86. Jack Steinmeyer also scored a 92 on the day and Skylar Fischer a 94. Fischer was the team’s highest finisher in a tie for 46th. Cadie Asher led the girls with a tie for 61st, scoring a 78.
