The Middle Border, Big Rivers and Dunn-St. Croix conferences each held their championship meets over the last week. All-Conference runners were named around the county as the teams now enter the postseason.
Middle Border Conference
Prescott had a big day at the Middle Border Conference Championship, finishing third in the boys race of eight teams and fourth of seven (tied for third but lost the tiebreaker) in the girls race. For the girls, Kyra Dix showed out once again to take third, and Amber Van Loon and Addy Allsop took 12th and 14th. For the boys, freshman Dawson Langer finished seventh, senior Nolan Leask took 14th and junior Quinn Justen snatched 20th.
The Ellsworth boys finished sixth of eight in the boys race. Jacob Michels and Ben Baker finished 10th and 11th to pair with Milan Johnson’s 25th place. While Ellsworth did not have enough runners to qualify as a team in the girls race, freshman Mackenzie Hince put on a show with a sixth-place finish to earn All-Middle Border Conference First Team.
Ellsworth and Prescott will be at the Rice Lake Sectional on Oct. 24. State for all teams is Nov. 1 at Wisconsin Rapids.
Dunn-St. Croix Conference
At the Dunn-St. Croix Conference meet, Spring Valley placed third of eight in the boys race and third of four in the girls race. Year-long standout Bryson Hoolihan took sixth in the boys race and was chased by Chase Glaus in 14th, Drake Olszewski in 15th and Dexter Arco in 18th.
In the girls race, Rylie Fritz took 12th, Stella Mathison took 19th, Kate Cipriano took 22nd, Harper Turner took 24th and Samantha Spence took 28th.
Elmwood/Plum City did not have enough racers to qualify in the team standings, but the runners who did compete had solid finishes. Taylor Asher finished 18th, Tessa Asher finished 34th and Mason Hocking finished 47th. The trio has had some strong finishes throughout the years and will look to keep it going at Sectionals.
Spring Valley and Elmwood/Plum City will race at the Unity Sectional on Oct. 25.
Big Rivers Conference
The River Falls girls took five of eight teams and the boys took four of eight at the Big Rivers Conference Championship.
Senior Olive Halvorson, who has set the pace this year for the girls team, did so again with a sixth-place finish in 19:14 to earn All-BRC First Team honors. Behind Halvorson was sophomore Annie Csiacsek in 16th and freshman Berkley Petta in 28th.
For the boys, junior Owen Koepke placed ninth with a 16:33. Freshman Micaiah Black and junior Cruz Johnson took 21st and 22nd to follow. Henry Cook rounded out the top 25 for the Wildcats.
River Falls is headed to Menomonie for Oct. 25 Sectionals.
