On Wednesday, Oct. 27, the C.A.B. gallery buzzed with Falcon energy from UWRF art students hanging their art to decorate the Arts House for their Oct. 30 and Oct. 31 exhibit. Hannah Freeman, M.F.A. Artist, and painting instructor from UWRF hosted the spooky event featuring a haunted castle, majenta mummy, Plague Master, spiders galore, bloody bovine, cleavers, and Frankenstein along with guitarist/music therapy student Hannah Killmer.
The Arts House became a trick or treat destination for kids and adults. The haunted gallery also served as a drop off for food pantry items and a gathering place for alumni to celebrate another great art opening. Amidst the low light, spiderwebs, and hanging skulls, one could find a striving for quality and excellence. Freeman described the group as “Students who inspire their teacher to teach.”
The show was enjoyable with a lot of art to take in. I always ask people around me to pick a favorite and this time there are diverse favorites so I tried to catch as many as I could in a photo.
Sometimes I found identifying names below the art pieces, other times there was an Instagram address, occasionally identification was downright ghostly. Artists’ names like Ava and Moriah came up frequently from people walking through this exhibit. Many desirable smaller jewelry and ceramic items deserved a second look. I usually revisit a show several times to catch everything. Mysteriously, this show disappeared with the Halloween snow.
Look for the Holiday show Nov. 14. There will be a Meet the Artist event Dec 14, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the C.A.B. Gallery at Main and Maple here in River Falls.
