BAY CITY – Since our last report in May, the Busy Fingers 4-H Club has continued to be busy. We started off the month of June with our club meeting. After the meeting ended, we had recreation outside. We played capture the flag and had bucket relay races using sponges and cups with holes in the bottom. Then we helped at the Pierce County Dairy Breakfast. Several members, leaders, and even alumni from our club came to volunteer. It was a cold, wet day, but we kept the milk filled, handed out kids activity bags, and we sat and painted faces outside under a tent in the chilly rain. Later in the month we worked in the 4-H food stand for a goat show that was on the fairgrounds. We had lots of business and sold a lot of chocolate shakes.
In July, the Busy Fingers 4-H Club met outside the Bay City Legion for a picnic, although we served the food inside. We had our “Mini Fair” where club members brought in a finished fair project and gave a little talk presenting it to everyone. After everyone presented their projects, we had a water fight and sprayed each other and tried to stay dry.
Members of the Busy Fingers 4-H Club exhibited in the Pierce County Fair. Many of our members do animal projects, some Legos, some flowers, foods, arts & crafts and so on. We were supposed to have our annual pool party a week after the fair, but the morning weather was chilly and the forecast wasn’t promising, so we decided to cancel. After cancelling, the afternoon temperature suddenly shot up to 80 degrees, which is just about our luck.
In September, we had our annual officer elections. The newly elected 2025-26 Busy Fingers 4-H Club officers are: President - Neveah Peters, Vice President - Ani Whelan, Secretary - Fallon Brenner, Treasurer - Grace Turvaville, and Reporter - Carolina Young.
We are looking forward to another great 4-H year. We invite you to come join our fun! 4-H is open to youth in grades Kindergarten through one year post high school and enrollment is now open.
