ELLSWORTH – Elsie’s Barnyard is excited to announce that it has been awarded a $3,000 grant from the St. Croix Valley Foundation to launch its newest initiative, “Babies at the Barnyard,” beginning summer 2025.
This six-week program is designed to support caregivers of children under the age of three with developmental delays and disabilities in Pierce and St. Croix counties. By combining nature-based play and evidence-based parenting strategies, “Babies at the Barnyard” will empower families and enrich their parenting capacities. The program integrates the well-documented benefits of outdoor play with the Triple P Positive Parenting Program, offering practical tools and a supportive environment for caregivers navigating the unique challenges of raising a child with developmental differences.
“At Elsie’s Barnyard, we believe in the power of nature and connection,” said Mandy Fleming, Founder of Elsie’s Barnyard. “As parents of a child with special needs, we understand the joys and struggles of this journey. ‘Babies at the Barnyard’ is our way of ensuring that families facing ‘more’ receive the extra support they deserve.”
Elsie’s Barnyard is dedicated to restoring and strengthening the hearts, minds, and souls of children and families facing medical and developmental challenges through meaningful interactions with animals and nature. Our programs remove barriers to care, such as cost and location, by offering services at no charge and within the community.
