Ellsworth Public Library can’t wait for you to join us for a fiesta celebrating children, books and literacy! The event will take place from 4-5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 30 and features bilingual fun for all ages.
Meet Hawaii’s own Wayfinder Princess fresh from her recent second movie release! She’ll be here to take photos, greet guests and will be joining Ms. Caroline, our youth services librarian, in bilingual Storytimes. There will also be craft activities, carnival games and refreshments provided by Fiesta Rosita and every child in attendance will select a free book to take home.
El día de los niños/El día de los libros (Children's Day/Book Day), commonly known as Día, is a celebration every day of children, families, and reading that culminates yearly on April 30. In many countries throughout Central and South America, April 30 is celebrated as El día de los niños or Children’s Day. Latina author, Pat Mory, worked with the American Library Association to connect this celebration of children with a commitment to bring book joy to all children, every day.
Día is a nationally recognized initiative that emphasizes the importance of literacy for all children of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds. It is a daily commitment to link children and their families to diverse books, languages, and cultures. The common goals of all Día programming are to:
