FishTale Players present “Catch and Release” one-act comedies

RIVER FALLS – Join us for an evening of laughter and fun as the River Falls Community Theatre’s FishTale Players present “Catch and Release,” an evening of six one-act comedies at Junior’s Restaurant & Taphouse.

Showtimes are at 7 p.m. Feb. 14-15 and Feb. 21-22. Doors open at 6 p.m., with pre-show live music each evening. Tickets to see all six one-acts are $15 but do not include food and drinks. Walk-up tickets will be available at the door but are not guaranteed for dinner service.

The six one-act plays that you’ll enjoy are:

Three’s Too Many
Written and directed by Malissa Jones.
Cast: Beth Ireland (Jemma), Nathan Ireland (Blaine), Malissa Jones (Veronica), and Richard Jones (David)

Blaine is distraught because he hasn’t heard from his girlfriend Jemma. He reaches out to her best friend Veronica for help. Blaine gets himself into some humorous situations and must find a way to repair or lose his relationship with Jemma. In the meantime, Veronica is trying to find love. Will she find her Prince Charming?

Netfits
Written by Janet J. Lawler. Directed by Travis Hinkel.
Cast: Travis Hinkel (Todd) and Tammy Pitzen (Dana)

Domestic bliss is interrupted when a Netflix password is changed. 

Catfish Chronicles
Written and directed by Malissa Jones
Cast: Kat Cloutier (Jackie), Paula Knutson (Alicia), Aleisha Miller (Heather), and Tammy Pitzen (Kate)

Based on a real-life story of a catfish scheme by a woman toward other women. Jackie’s friends hold an intervention for her over concerns that the man she thinks she is in love with (Brody) isn’t real. Alicia and Kate do a deep dive into social media looking for clues. Meanwhile, Heather is comforting Jackie and helping her navigate the situation. Will the super sleuths find out the truth about who is behind this nefarious lover?

Buzz
Written by Mark Steven Jensen. Directed by David Markson.
Cast: Cindy Jacobson (Judy) and Ricky Jacobson (Pete)

An annoying fly keeps Pete and Judy awake, forcing them to talk about their crumbling relationship.

Long Walk to Forever
Adapted by Bryan Harnetiaux. Directed by Peter Bloch.
Cast: Tyler Haines (Newt) and Shelby Tylicki (Catharine)

Newt and Catharine grew up together. Now Newt is in the army and Catharine is about to marry someone else. Word of the wedding galvanizes Newt into action, and he goes AWOL to see Catharine. When Newt gets home, he convinces her to take a walk in the nearby woods as they did when they were children. There they must decide whether this is a short walk for old-time sake, or a Long Walk to Forever.

Time Flies
Written by David Ives. Directed by David Markson.
Cast: Kat Cloutier (May), Denny Cooper (David Attenborough), and Tom Monn (Horace)

On their first (and only) date, two mayflies discover they have a lot in common—including the fact that their lives are half over .... “Carpe Diem!”
