RF ‘No Kings Rally’ lines Main Street

RIVER FALLS – On Saturday, Oct. 18, more than 7 million people nationwide participated in “No Kings” rallies at 2,700 events spread across all 50 states, according to the grassroots Progressive group Indivisible. A rally in River Falls saw an estimated 1,000-1,200 people protesting peacefully from the River Falls Public Library along Main Street to Veterans Park.

The rallies were held to protest President Donald Trump’s administration, with participants voicing outrage over Immigration and Customs Enforcement masked raids and arresting immigrants without warrants, gutting healthcare, education and environmental protections, threatening to overtake elections, troop deployments in U.S. cities, mass shootings at schools and in communities, driving up the cost of living while handing tax breaks to billionaires and more, according to nokings.org

“The president thinks his rule is absolute. But in America, we don’t have kings — and we won’t back down against chaos, corruption, and cruelty,” the website states.

Participants lined Main Street River Falls, many dressed up in costumes while hoisting American flags and signs touting democracy and freedom. According to Newsweek, Trump said of the nationwide rallies: “I guess [No Kings] was paid for by [George] Soros and other radical left lunatics."

Indivisible River Falls has been hosting protests throughout the summer, usually meeting at the River Falls Public Library and marching down Main Street to Veterans Park. Events have also popped up in Prescott, including Saturday on the Highway 10 bridge, said Prescott resident Maureen Otwell.

Indivisible River Falls is a volunteer organization started after the November 2024 election by six local women concerned about how the MAGA agenda would harm local people. It is affiliated with national and Wisconsin Indivisible organizations.

“Aligned with local priorities, we organize and act together to protect those worst affected by the recent events in Washington and on campaigns to restore and protect democracy.” said co-founder Jennifer Nelson in February.
