RIVER FALLS – The River Falls Royal Ambassador Program focuses on empowering young leaders and creating lifelong connections through community involvement. The River Falls Royal Ambassadors carry the goodwill and spirit of River Falls to other communities through parades, coronations and numerous local and regional volunteer opportunities.
An information meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 12 in the River Falls High School Library (818 Cemetery Road).
Eligible ambassador candidates are those students finishing their sophomore or junior year in high school, with a minimum 2.50 GPA. The selection process begins by attending informational meetings in early spring and completing an application. Ambassadors are then chosen using a scoring system similar to that of large national pageants. They are selected based on their application, essay, personal interview, a social hour with all candidates and the panel of judges, performance in a group dance number, individual talent or informational presentation, and a speech introducing themselves to the community.
Those chosen as Royal Ambassadors receive college scholarships of up to $1,300 and an allowance for float and semi-formal attire. In addition, they are gifted a crown, sash, jacket, polo and gas cards to be used when attending events. The ambassadors serve for one year and gain tremendous experience in public speaking, leadership and volunteerism.
