A Hager City man probably regrets passing a plow driver on a double yellow line since it resulted in a drug bust and a felony charge.

Gabriel David Greenberg, 43, posted $750 cash bail Feb. 23 in Pierce County Circuit Court on felony possess with intent – THC (>1,000-2,500 grams), possess amphetamine/LSD/psilocin, possession of THC and possess drug paraphernalia charges. If convicted, the maximum penalty is 10 years in prison and/or fines up to $25,000.

According to the complaint:

At 11:12 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, Pierce County deputies received a driving complaint from a county maintenance truck. The driver said a navy blue Saturn had passed him on County Road E on a solid double yellow line while traveling southbound. Police pulled the vehicle over on Highway 35 near County Road OO in the town of Diamond Bluff. The vehicle, driven by Greenberg, smelled strongly of marijuana. He admitted to passing the plow truck and said he didn’t realize it was on a double yellow until the pass was completed.

Because of the marijuana smell, officers had probable cause to search the vehicle. Greenberg handed over three THC vape devices that he had on his person. On the floor behind the passenger seat, a brown grocery bag contained seven large vacuum-sealed baggies of marijuana. Each “brand” had its name written in Sharpie on the baggie. Investigators seized the marijuana, which weighed 1,015 grams (over 2 pounds).

After Greenberg was transported to Pierce County Jail, officers executed a search warrant on his residence at W8654 174th Ave. in Trenton township. Investigators found a tray with a rolled up $20 bill, a grinder and a glass smoking device tucked in the basement ceiling. Inside the garage, a desk with three drawers contained two ammo cans with marijuana, a large amount of sealed packaged gummies, a scale, paraphernalia, and more marijuana. Another drawer held a ledger with dates, names and amounts written inside. In yet another drawer, police found multiple smoking devices, wax containers, drug paraphernalia and a baggie with mushrooms. They also found marijuana in a truck parked in the driveway and THC vape in his girlfriend’s vehicle.

The amount of marijuana found at the house weighed 284.9 grams; the mushrooms totaled 186.2 grams.

Greenberg is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 2:30 p.m. April 1.
