RIVER FALLS – The University of Wisconsin-River Falls Dance Theatre’s annual spring concert will include a variety of dance styles with each performance intended to convey a meaningful story to event attendees.

Performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. Feb. 13-15, and 2 p.m. Feb. 16 and will be held in the Blanche Davis Theatre in Kleinpell Fine Arts building, 420 E. Cascade Ave., River Falls.

The event is free and open to everyone. Doors open 30 minutes prior to showtime. For more information, visit www.uwrfdancetheatre.org/.

The concert features a range of performances, including a Peruvian folk dance, a dance emphasizing the power of personal connection and a timely recital about wildfires and climate change. Modern, ballet, Peruvian, jazz and contemporary dance styles will be performed.

“UWRF Dance Theatre invites all to share in an evening filled with artistic expression through dance,” said Mari Kline-Kluck, Dance Theatre director.

Spring concert performances will include:

  • “Valicha,” an energetic, traditional Peruvian folk dance by Gissela Reyes, choreographer and UWRF alum.
  • “Take 5, An Ode to a Thesis,” a dance that celebrates a moment of rest and play amid hard work by Danielle Ricci-Cheng, visiting artist.
  • “Rhythm of Change,” a biographical jazz dance by Mira Meinen, student choreographer.
  • “String Theory,” a contemporary piece that explores connections by Laura Klein, student choreographer.
  • “Spreading Like Wildfire,” a modern dance that investigates cultural, religious, historical and political references to wildfires and their increasing prevalence due to climate change by Kline-Kluck.
  • “Piece 143,” a dance that celebrates dancers of all ages and abilities by Starla Dixen, choreographer and UWRF alum.
