As the new year unfolds, the Great River Road Visitor and Learning Center stands as a beacon of hope, education, and appreciation for the area that we call home, Prescott, Wis. Our center sits on a majestic bluff line along the mighty Mississippi River. The center serves as a place for visitors and locals to immerse themselves in the history, ecology, and beauty of this legendary river corridor.
The Great River Road, which stretches over 3,000 miles from Minnesota to Louisiana, is one of America's most scenic byways, and the Visitor and Learning Center offers a unique, hands-on experience. From interactive exhibits to educational programs, the center plays a vital role in preserving and sharing our special area which starts the travels of the Great River Road.
Looking ahead, the center has exciting plans for the upcoming year. Special events, including guided tours, nature talks, educational workshops, children’s activities, arts and crafts, and a Music in the Park series are planned throughout the seasons. These programs will focus on everything from bird watching along the river to having fun as a community at our community building events.
As the center enters this new year, it also celebrates the continued support of its volunteers, partners, and the surrounding community. We are forever thankful for our continued partnerships that help define who we are. We are very thankful for the continued support shown by all. The Great River Road Visitor and Learning Center remains committed to fostering a deeper connection to our local residents, while continuing to inspire visitors from all over the world.
With a full calendar of events and a renewed focus on education and sustainability, the Great River Road Visitor and Learning Center is more than just a stop along a scenic byway—it’s a vital destination for those looking to understand the ever-changing landscape of the mighty Mississippi and surrounding area.
"We’re looking forward to welcoming visitors in 2025 and beyond," said Linda Schenk. "Together, we can continue to celebrate this remarkable area and all that its resources represent."
The new year brings fresh opportunities to engage with visitors and locals alike, and we look forward to another year of learning and discovery.
